A few weeks ago I participated in what I believe to be one of the best extracurricular opportunities as Green Mountain. The Green Mountain Adventure Program or GreenMAP offers a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities as well as very cheap equipment rentals for students and the rest of the community.
For fall break this year I participated on a rock climbing trip that went up to Acadia National Park in Maine. For four days we climbed right next to the ocean at Otter Cliffs and other various walls around the park, we ate fresh Maine lobster, explored a sea cave at low tide, and watched the earliest sunrise in the United States on top of Cadillac Mountain.
GreenMap trips are completely facilitated by trained student leaders and works as a cooperative, where all participants have a say in how the trip is run. You have a chance to try fun new recreation opportunities and to meet and bond with other students. Also, most of these trips are free to students!
