Belly dancing preforms in Rutland for Dancing Darkly by Taylor Conley

Last weekend a number of advanced and beginner belly dancers went to Rutland with professor and belly dancing teacher Susanne Claxton to perform in the annual event Dancing Darkly. The group performed 3 different sets; they were joined by a number of other women from Rutland and the surrounding area whom each took turns performing either solo or in groups. The performances showcased several styles of belly dance. Shakti Tribal Belly dance, the group at GMC, incorporates tribal, Arabic, and Egyptian. Shakti Tribal Belly dance will be performing on campus in the Gorge on December 3rd for their annual Women’s Shelter(located in Rutland) benefit. Other tribes from Vermont will be joining in the dance and live music in order to raise money for the Women’s Shelter.
