I mentioned in a previous post that I will be going to Kentucky with the Red Bird Mission this spring break. I will be going with a dozen other students from Green Mountain College, and a dozen people from the local community. It should be awesome, considering that aside from the 5 others that attended last year, I hardly know anyone who is going. I am really excited about getting to know other people on a more intimate level, especially the students who I have not yet had the opportunity to really delve into friendships with, despite seeing on a daily basis. However, I do have concerns. First, I worry that all the progress I have been making in lacrosse will dwindle. Of course I am probably just freaking out for no reason, especially because it’s unlikely that my physical prowess will decline. I hope that I can find the motivation to go running while I am there! Another one of my teammates will be there. I don’t think it’s really feasible to bring our equipment, so we will have to rely on just attempting to keep fit. I have to say though, last year the food was the local cuisine. It was delicious and possibly not the healthiest stuff I have ever eaten, but I’m not sure if I can say no to heaping portions! My favorite was sausage gravy over biscuits for breakfast, and fried chicken for dinner :). I also worry, that after such a hectic half of the semester, that I won’t really feel rested when I return. I will be gone for the entirety of break and will probably feel exhausted from approximately 3 days of travel and also the semi-strenuous physical labor we will be engaging in. But who knows, maybe it will be just the break I need! I have already taken my exams in Conservation Psychology and Economics of the Environment, but I still need to take my exams in Cell Biology, Public Policy and the Environment, and Abnormal Psychology. Thankfully my exam in Evolution is postponed until after break! Wish me luck in my studies!!
