Vagina Monologues by Krista Shugart

The Vagina Monologues took place in the Gorge on Friday March 22 in the Gorge at Green Mountain College. The show was organized by students Dana Vocht and Carlie Guinane. The Gorge was decorated with a vagina theme, and you had to ask for consent before entering the room. All of the performers were wonderful. It was an emotional show with both tears and laughs from the audience. Performers in the monologue included Dana Vocht, Carlie Guinane, Kimberly Blank, Taylor Conley, Lily Bradburn, Elizabeth Hobbs, Emma Wallace, Cody Tedford, Nicole Murano, Elana Weinstein, Bianca Zanella, Hailey Paschold, and Jess Friedl.

The Vagina Monologues were created by Eve Ensler.

“Each of the monologues deals with an aspect of the feminine experience, touching on matters such as sex, love, rape, menstration {womynstration}, female genital mutilation, birth, orgasm, the various common names for the vagina, or simply as a physical aspect of the body. A recurring theme throughout the piece is the vagina as a tool of female empowerment, and the ultimate embodiment of individuality.”
