Emily Wills just graduated from Green Mountain College (December 2014), and is already pursuing her dreams! Emily graduated with a degree in Sustainable Agriculture and is now an intern at Dickson’s Farmstand Meats in Manhattan, NYC only weeks after getting her degree. At Dickson’s Famstand Meats Emily has had the opportunity continue her education and specialize her focus in animal butchering.
While at GMC a few of her favorite classes at GMC were Animal Proteins with Dave and all the classes she took with Philip Ackerman-Leist.
“Because of the small community I was really able to develop meaningful relationships with my professors and the other students. GMC attracts so many great people with such a wide variety of interests and passions I was always learning something new. Through the diverse array of classes that I took, I was able to try a bunch of things out to see what I was really interested in and what skills I wanted to develop further in my education/career path.”
Emily has left her mark on Green Mountain College, and the school will feel her absence next semester. She was an active member on Farm Crew, was Farm Manager, and taught countless people how to do farm chores, milk cows, collect eggs, feed the animals and tend to them. Emily also worked at a YMCA camp in NJ this past summer and had many responsibilities: keeping up with the camp’s farm along with being a farm educator for children and preparing fun, informative, hands-on daily activities!
Emily in the future would like to continue butchering or work in farm education. The GMC community extends their thanks to all the amazing work she has contributed to our campus community and we wish her the very best of luck in all of her future endeavors!
