“Despite the fact that Vermont has banned fracking for gas in our state, Vermont Gas wants to build a pipeline that would increase Vermont’s dependence on gas coming from those same risky techniques. That’s irresponsible, and we need to let state regulators know that.
On Wednesday, May 7th the Public Service Board will be holding a public hearing in Middlebury (location TBD) to take comments from Vermonters on the pipeline. The hearing will likely begin at 6 or 7 pm.
RSVP at http://bit.ly/PSBHearing and we’ll keep you posted on event location and other ways you can help spread the word about this important opportunity to have your voice heard.”
This will be hosted by VPIRG – “VPIRG is Vermont’s largest grassroots advocacy organization. We work to protect Vermont’s citizens and environment, and need your help. Check out http://www.vpirg.org/ today. The Mission of VPIRG’s mission is to promote and protect the health of Vermont’s people, environment and locally-based economy by informing and mobilizing citizens statewide.”
In the beginning of last semester (Fall 2013) ten GMC students went to the Public Hearing meeting in Middlebury, and now there is another at the end of the school year (May 2014). It is so important that students show up…especially because we are all students at an environmental school.
