“Winter is hard here” – By Seraphina Mallon-Breiman

As the days of winter seem to get longer and colder, temperatures dropping almost consistently to -14 degrees, it starts to feel very difficult to find the motivation or desire to leave your dorm room.

But- try! Try going on outdoor adventures with friends, or collaborating on an art project.

Walk down the Poultney river and remind yourself there are only a few more months left before you’ll be able to climb the river’s ropeswing and jump in again.

Go to the farm, take a few breaths, feed a few chickens, and remember how lucky we are to be in this environment, no matter how freezing it is at the moment.

As John Muir says, “I never saw a discontented tree. They grip the ground as though they like it, and though fast rooted they travel about as far as we do.”
